Arts + Craft Foods is a home for writing and reading about good food, interesting people, and exciting projects. Started as a casual pop-up dinner service by artist, cook and writer Allie Pisarro-Grant, Arts + Craft Foods was founded with the mission to explore culinary traditions and techniques through a lens of playful whimsy.
Allie grew up in LA's San Fernando Valley, and earned her BFA in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2009. While her background in fine art led her to New York City and into a successful career in the art publishing world, she's also sought out a variety of experiences and opportunities in the culinary realm, with a focus on urban farming, sustainable development, food security and integrative nutrition.
Allie has created creative menus with her company Arts + Craft Foods for events at Clem's Bar in Brooklyn, worked as Farm-to-Table Coordinator at Krankies in North Carolina, and cooked with Breezy's BBQ at Rockaway Beach's 97th Street Concessions. She's currently growing corn, beans, and squash in the Native American 'three sisters' method in her backyard in Ridgewood, Queens.
